Getting back into Photography

Sometimes life can get busy and hectic and get in the way of things, more so in some times than others. I have gone though this very thing the last couple of years. With my increasing levels of responsibility in the VFW at all levels of the organization, attending college full time, and now working, I have lost time to do some things I really enjoy doing. One of those things has been my photography, hence my recent absence in posting pictures and really much content, if any, in recent times.

Now that I have graduated college, and stepped back from some of the leadership roles I held in the VFW, I have found more time again to start doing some things that I enjoy again. Recently on a trip to New Orleans to attend the VFW National Convention, I took my camera along with me. While I may not have gotten a lot of pictures at the Convention, I was able to get out and do some photography again on the trip back home. My girlfriend and I traveled to Columbus, GA outside of Fort Benning, which I was stationed at for seven and a half years.

While in Columbus, we went to the National Infantry Museum and I took a lot of photos there, mainly so that my family could see the new exhibits that were opened since the last time we visited. We also traveled a little south and went to Providence Canyon State Park where we did some hiking. On the hike through and around the canyon I was able to get some good photographs and I also realized just how much I really enjoyed the hobby.

I was also asked to do my first wedding photos at a friends wedding this weekend. I am excited that they thought of me to ask for their wedding photos when there are so many other better known photographers in our area. I am at the same time also a bit nervous about the event as it will be my first time doing wedding photos and I want to make sure they are the best they can be.

All in all, I am looking forward to picking up the camera once again and getting back out there and photographing things to share with the world again.
